Autism Diagnosis & Assessment Modules

Our Professional Psychologists Have over 2 decades of experience in Autism Diagnosis for adults and children All over Ireland. We detail the steps that you can expect from our professionals when you receive your treatment.

Step 1: Developmental History

For the first stage of the autism assessment we take a look at the behaviour of the child and assess them using an Autism diagnostic interview Revised system (ADI-R)

Step 2: Observation & Communication

In the second stage of the childs assessment we use an Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). It is a semi-structured, standardised assessment of communication, social skills, play and restricted and repetitive behaviours. It enables us to look at how your child or young person communicates, how they interact with us, how they play and their ability to be creative, and also if they have any restricted or repetitive behaviours or interests.

Step 3: Educational Overview

We may get in touch with the educators of your child and implement the use of a number of techniques and tools such as

  • Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (BSID)
  • Stanford-Binet 5 assessment Test
  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)
  • Education Assessment

We use these tools to get a more conclusive and informed overview of how the child is interacting with different environments and how they get on during everyday life. We would look to get a report from their school/Education Facility to see how they are in fields of attendance and behaviour.

Step 4: Adaptive Function

The Assessment we use for the adaptive Function is the Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Schedule (VABS 2 & 3) which details the level of function and what the child can do for themselves. Areas of being assessed include:

  • language therapy
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Observations

Conclusion: Final Diagnosis

Through the thorough assessment modules above we are able to put these four pieces together and that will form the basis and assessment points of the child and will determine what they need. The Modules are a neccessary part of the assessment process as we are able to collect the following for the final assessment report:

  • Background
  • History
  • Observations

After Carrying this out we can make an Intervention Plan such as

  • Educational Strategies
  • ABA Therapy
  • Allied Health Professionals

First and Foremost the needs and development of the child is our number 1 priority and we make zero compromises in that as we treat every child with care and patience. We Aimt to equip The Child and parents with the tools neccessary to get help and support so they aren't alone in this time of need.
